Overnight Equestrian Programs for Your Young Rider
Fairview Lake YMCA Camps offers three different sleepaway ranch camp options for young horseback riders in New Jersey. We offer one-week, two-week, and three-week young equestrians’ programs where the youth of New Jersey can experience horsemanship and the joys of riding. Ranch campers can expect to ride for at least three hours a day, including ring lessons and trail rides. Our horses are leased from a farm in New York and are evaluated by our ranch staff. Most of our horses return to camp year after year, which allows us to get to know them on a deeper level.

Ranch Camp: Girl's Three-Week Program
At our three-week sleepaway ranch camp program, girls refine their young equestrian skills and abilities. We build off the curriculum taught during our one-week and two-week ranch camp programs, further expanding on the ins and outs of horsemanship. Campers will also have various riding lessons which will increase their knowledge of horses and basic animal care. As a culminating event, campers will participate in an in-house horse show, giving them a chance to demonstrate sharpened skills to their peers and to their camp counselors.

Ranch Camp: Girl'sTwo-Week Program
At our two-week sleepaway ranch camp program, girls are given the opportunity to advance their abilities as young equestrians. We build off the curriculum taught during our one-week ranch camp program, further expanding on the basics of horsemanship. From lessons to trail rides, campers will increase their knowledge of horses while learning the basics of animal care. Campers will be able to recognize common diseases among horses, how to read their vital signs, and how to administer basic first-aid after completing our two-week program. Additionally, campers will participate in an in-house horse show, providing them the opportunity to demonstrate their sharpened skills. Those who choose to participate in the half-day program will reside with the other ranch campers, ride, and have barn chores each day.

Ranch Camp: Girl's & Co-ed One-Week Programs
At our one-week ranch camp program, we build the riding skills and confidence of our campers, expanding on their pre-existing love of horses. This focused and fun summer camp program teaches young equestrians many horsemanship skills, including riding, grooming, tacking, and barn work. Our lessons for beginners are led by our highly skilled instructors. Campers are instructed within our riding ring, trails, and throughout the 660-acre property. Additionally, campers will be allotted the opportunity to swim and participate in other traditional camp activities throughout the evenings.

From riding to grooming, tacking, barn work, and more, we introduce the basics of horsemanship and beyond with our campers.
