A Summer to Remember at Fairview Lake YMCA Camps
Every child longs for adventure in some way, whether they love getting lost in a good book or enjoy exploring the wilderness. At Fairview Lake YMCA Camps, your child can satisfy their taste for adventure in a safe and secure environment. Our New Jersey summer camp, Adventure Trips for Challenge (ATC) are ideal for children who want to get a unique experience over summer break. Campers have the opportunity to try new activities while making new friends and building self-confidence.
Challenge Rating System
Adventure Trips programs are rated to help you and your child determine what adventure they're ready for! If you have questions about an activity, please reach out to Adventure Trips Director Brendan Rearer - he's happy to chat with you about the goals and challenges in each program and about your child's experience level.
Intro Level: Campers will spend the majority of their time at Fairview Lake - exploring our great program areas, swimming in our lake, and hiking our beautiful trails. Campers will experience a one-night tent camping trip as part of their program.
Beginner Level: Campers will spend time on-site exploring our great program areas, swimming, and hiking, and also may head out on longer off-site excursions. Campers will experience tent camping as part of their program.
Intermediate Level: Campers will experience more challenging pursuits as they head off-site for longer excursions, multi-night trips and experiences.
Advanced Level: These high adventure programs are perfect for campers who have experienced other camping and adventure programs. These programs offer our longest trips, including multiple-night backpacking trips.

One Week
Angler's Catch
Entering Grades 4-11

Ideal for the fishing enthusiast. Campers will explore fishing on our beautiful 110-acre lake, and catch large and small-mouth bass, sunfish, perch, pickerel, and more! Fish from the shore, our dock, and boats. They will also experience fishing at other off-site locations. The week also includes activities like swimming, archery, riflery, and climbing wall. We recommend that campers bring their own pole and tackle box. Campers will also go on a campout during the week.
Campers enrolled in our ATC programs will reside in the Delaware Unit. Each cabin has 4 bunk beds with mattresses, screened windows, and storage. Cabins do not have electricity or bathrooms. The bathhouse is centrally located and has hot showers, sinks, flush toilets, and electricity.

Camping & Carabiners
Entering Grades 6-9
Climbing and camping are a perfect combination! We’ll try all of our high elements, including the indoor and outdoor climbing walls, the leap of faith, and the giant swing! Campers will also get the chance to climb at a local natural wall, learn about climbing safety and knot-tying, and experience a camping trip.

Climbing Adventures
Entering Grades 6-11
Ready to conquer the heights? This great week of camp will include climbing on our indoor and outdoor walls, scaling our high ropes elements, taking a ride on the giant swing, and a trip to a local rockface. Campers will also learn about safety, knot-tying, and the history of climbing. Other activities may include swimming, hiking, boating, and archery. Campers will also spend a night camping in a tent.

Delaware Safari
Grades 8-11
Ready to conquer the Delaware River? Our staff and campers love the challenge and experience of a 60-mile, 4-day, and 3-night adventure down the Delaware River. This trip allows campers to develop their leadership and teamwork skills and gain independence and confidence. Campers and staff will navigate rapids, paddle through calm sections, swim, camp on the beautiful shores and islands, and build memories and friendships that will last forever.

First Adventures
Entering Grades 4-6

Every explorer had a first adventure, and we’ve got the perfect one just for your young camper. Over the course of the week, we’ll take on team-building challenges, learn outdoor skills, build friendships, and try out a ton of great activities. We have also planned two fantastic day trips. One will be a day hike up Mt. Tammany, in the Delaware Water Gap. From the summit of this mountain, you’ll have breathtaking views of the Delaware River coursing through the gap and the lush forest that surrounds it. We’ll also take a day canoe trip down the Delaware River. The river is home to bald eagles, hawks, fish, and beautiful wildlife. We hope to inspire a love of the outdoors in each of our campers and build a foundation for a lifetime of fun in nature.

Hikes & Bikes
Entering Grades 6-11

Embark on an adventure with a blend of day bike trips and an overnight backpacking experience on the Appalachian Trail. Campers will also enjoy a variety of activities including archery, riflery, climbing wall challenges, swimming, and boating.
Please note, campers need to bring their own bicycles and helmets. Bicycles should be suitable for both paved and dirt roads.

Pioneers 1
Entering Grades 4-9

Horseback riding, sailing, cooking, archery, hiking, swimming and boating, outdoor living skills, and more. (It's going to be a busy week!) This week is based on what Fairview Lake YMCA Camps was like in 1915 - the year we were founded. Campers will also get a taste of tent camping and cooking over a fire. This is a great week for first-time ETC Campers, or campers who want to try many different activities while at camp.

River Runners
Girls, Entering Grades 6-11

Our newest river trip, River Runners is an all-girls week-long canoe trip down the Delaware River. This incredible experience will foster independence, teamwork, and leadership as the girls paddle through calm stretches of water, navigate rapids, and camp on the riverbanks. They will also take part in team-building activities, learn about outdoor survival skills, and have fun with their fellow campers. This trip offers an opportunity for girls to challenge themselves, build confidence, and make memories that will last a lifetime. We’re creating a special environment that provides a safe and supportive space for girls to be themselves and try new things. Our goal is to create a lifelong love of the outdoors and inspire girls to pursue new challenges in their lives.

Seven Lakes
Entering Grade 6-11
Set out on a thrilling adventure in the Seven Lakes area of Harriman State Park, NY! Explore scenic trails, discover beautiful lakes, & build wilderness skills in a picturesque setting. With activities like canoeing, hiking, camping, swimming, & team challenges, it’s the perfect getaway to connect with friends, develop leadership, & dive into nature.

The Great Camp Race
Entering Grades 6-11
An exhilarating summer camp program where campers are split into teams, each guided by a dedicated staff member. The challenge? To see which team can journey the furthest from camp using only canoes and hiking. This program combines adventure, teamwork, and strategic planning, providing campers with an unforgettable experience.

Two Week
Adirondack Explorer
Entering Grades 8-11

The Adirondack Mountains offer a breathtaking landscape that is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, and a two-week exploring this natural wonder is an experience of a lifetime. The campers will be surrounded by serene lakes, cascading waterfalls, and lush forests as they hike, canoe, and camp on this incredible adventure. Campers will begin their journey at Fairview Lake, where they plan their trip with their staff. From there, campers and staff will be driven to the Adirondacks where they will spend multiple days and nights backpacking through the unspoiled wilderness of New York. They will also have the opportunity to explore the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, visit a quaint Adirondack town, and develop lifelong friendships and memories.

Adventure Sampler
Entering Grades 6-9

Let's adventure! Join your friends on a three-day, two-night canoe trip on the Delaware River and a three-day, two-night backpack trip on the Appalachian Trail. We'll camp in tents, cook over a fire, and enjoy activities like the high ropes course, boating, archery and ax throwing when we're back at FVL. This great experience will foster teamwork, leadership, and outdoor skills in every camper!

Ready for more pioneer camping? This two-week adventure is based on what Fairview Lake YMCA Camps was like back in 1915- the year we were founded! For two weeks, you enjoy horseback riding, sailing, cooking, archery, hiking, swimming and boating, overnight camping, outdoor living skills, and more.

Pocono Adventure
Entering Grades 6-11

The Poconos are the perfect backdrop for fun and adventure! Campers and staff will explore different areas of these beautiful mountains in a series of great trips. Discover the beauty of Hickory Run State Park, whitewater raft on the Lehigh River, backpack on one of the Pocono’s famous trails, and more on this fantastic journey. Along the way, campers will build friendships and learn important leadership and teamwork skills that will last a lifetime.

Voyagers
Entering Grades 6-11

Perfect for the camper that enjoys being on, in, and around the water. We’ll enjoy swimming, canoeing, and kayaking on our beautiful 110-acre lake. We’ll also spend one day on an exhilarating rafting adventure on the Lehigh River in Pennsylvania. During the second week, we’ll explore the Delaware River on a four-day three-night canoe adventure.

Pioneers 3
Entering Grades 4-9
The ultimate Pioneer experience! This three-week adventure is based on what Fairview Lake YMCA Camps was like back in 1915- the year we were founded! For three weeks, you’ll enjoy horseback riding, sailing, cooking, archery, hiking, swimming and boating, overnight camping, outdoor living skills, and more. You’ll have time to experience almost everything we have to offer, all while making new friends and having fun!

Where Campers Live & Play
Adventure Trips Campers and their dedicated staff live in the Delaware Unit, located on a hillside in camp. This unique setting is a great basecamp for all Adventure Trips programs - with a shared bathhouse and pavilion, lawn space for games, and beautiful woods to explore. While the airy cabins do not have electricity, the bathhouse and pavilion are both powered. A short walk away is our dining hall, where campers enjoy meals. Campers are also close to the newly expanded Wakegan waterfront, where our lifeguards and staff supervise fun and games in our pristine lake.

Our Adventure Trips for Challenge programs are designed to allow for growth, leadership, and friendship building opportunities. Each program offers a unique itinerary, including rafting, canoeing, backpacking, rock climbing, high ropes, orienteering and more. Campers also participate in on camp activities - swimming, archery and the Mountain Slide - just to name a few! Join us for 1, 2, or 3 week programs, or combine multiple sessions to plan a summer your child will never forget!
