Resident Camp Positions

Listed below is a general list of positions that are available each summer. When applying, please carefully consider your qualifications against the requirements and descriptions of the positions. Other positions, not listed here, may be available, and positions listed below may have already been filled. We are currently accepting applications for the 2019 summer season. All employees must undergo a background and reference check prior to hiring, and will have required training to complete upon hire.

ALL: Work collaboratively within a team setting to provide a safe, positive, and enriching environment; Perform other duties as required.

Unit Leader (21+): Oversee general functioning of assigned Unit (camper and staff supervision; program development).
Lakeside Waterfront Director (21+): Oversee general functioning and safety of Lakeside waterfront programs
Mountainside Waterfront Director (21+): Oversee general functioning and safety of Mountainside waterfront programs (inc. Sailing and Windsurfing).
Program Director: Oversee the scheduling of program activities, in conjunction with the Assistant Camp Director.
Range Supervisor (21+, must have NJ Firearms ID Card and appropriate training): Oversee safety and usage of all range equipment and ensure safe and rewarding programing for participants. 

CIT Director (21+): Plan and coordinate the Counselor in Training program, including training and development of CIT participants.
CIT Counselors: Assist in general functioning of the Counselor in Training Program (supervision and training of program participants).

Waterfront Coordinator: General functioning of waterfront programs in coordination with Waterfront Directors.
Head Counselor: Assist Unit Leader in general functioning of the unit as needed.
Activity Specialist: Design and implement progressive programs and maintain equipment in your assigned activity.

ETC Senior Trip Leader (21+): Conduct trips and supervise trip groups (10-20 youth) according to pre-planned schedule, both on and off camp property.
ETC General Trip Leader (18+): Conduct trips and supervise trip groups (10-20 youth) according to pre-planned schedule, both on and off camp property in coordination with Senior Trip Leader.
ETC Junior Counselor (16-17): In partnership with Trip leaders, supervise a trip group and assist in trip activities. *All employees under the age of 18 must have working papers. You can obtain working papers from any public high school in the state of NJ. 

Camp Nurse (21+, must be a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey): Oversee functioning of Camp Health Center and Treatment Room in coordination with the Summer Camp Director

Ranch Program Director (21+): Oversee general functioning and safety of Ranch and Trail Ride programs.
Ranch Counselors (18+): Supervise a cabin group consisting of approximately ten campers and conduct ranch programing in cooperation with the Ranch Director.
Ranch Junior Counselors (16-17): In partnership with Ranch Counselors, supervise a cabin group and assist in Ranch programming. *All employees under the age of 18 must have working papers. You can obtain working papers from any public high school in the state of NJ. 

General Counselors (+18): Supervise a cabin group consisting of approximately ten campers; Develop and execute program area lesson plans as assigned. 
Junior Counselors (16-17): In partnership with General Counselors, supervise a cabin group and assist in program areas. *All employees under the age of 18 must have working papers. You can obtain working papers from any public high school in the state of NJ. 

Laundry: Manage camp laundry service and clean all camper and staff laundry in a timely manner. Assist maintenance and housekeeping staff when not engaged in laundry activities.

Information for International Staff

If you are not a US citizen, you must obtain a J-1 Visa to be considered for employment at Fairview Lake YMCA Camps. Current laws prohibit us from hiring international staff under the age of 18. We partner with CCUSA and IENA for our international placement.
