YMCA Coronavirus Update | NJ

How to help prevent the spread of diseases.

The Y is Temporarily Closed

Due to the statewide mandates to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), all Y facilities, including Fairview Lake YMCA Camps, are closed until further notice. We are quickly responding to this change and will provide details on our website, and via email, as the situation changes.

Summer Camp

This summer a camp experience will have an even greater impact on children. Disruption in school also means disruption in their after-school activities, routines, friendships and sports. Camp is a wonderful place to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, reconnect with friends, and to grow and learn. We have every expectation of having an incredible summer with our campers, and registration remains open for all of our summer camp programs.

Families who decide not to have their child attend camp will be refunded any fees paid over and above the deposit if they cancel at least 30 days prior to the start of the camp session.

Group Visits

We are working with groups to reschedule their trip to camp at a later date this year. If you are a group leader and have questions about your trip, please contact camp.

Open Houses

We are cancelling all upcoming April summer camp open houses until further notice. We will keep you informed of any changes or new dates.

Virtual YMCA

We also recognize being at home all day is a novel and strange circumstance for many children and families. Together with our other branches, we are creating a series of videos – everything from group exercise to a sing-along campfire – for your family. We hope these videos bring joy, education and fun into your home. You can currently access Fairview at Homefitness classes and child care resources from the comfort of your home.

Impacts to our staff

The loss of revenue associated with the closure of Y branches has resulted in unimagined financial circumstances, requiring a temporary layoff of many of staff members who are part of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges. This adjustment in our workforce enables us to sustain the staffing levels and wages that are essential for maintaining current operations.

To help employees affected by the closure of our facilities, you can make a secure online donation to our Employee Assistance Fund.

Additional resources

Thank you for working with us to ensure the health of your friends, visitors to camp, our YMCA and the community. We look forward to seeing you soon.
